Graduation Update Letter 5/19

Dear RHS Senior Families:

As you know, we previously communicated that graduation would be held on our campus pending more information. We appreciate your patience as we have navigated the ever-changing state and local COVID-19 regulations. With the governor’s recent changes to risk levels, we are now able to hold our high school graduation at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center as we have in past years.

This indoor venue means we can host our graduation ceremony without concern for weather, and the size of the space will continue to allow each student to invite as many as TEN guests. The venue will be compliant with all COVID-19 spacing requirements.

The venue will comply with all Oregon Health Authority indoor entertainment establishment guidance.

Graduation will take place on the same date and time as previously scheduled, in the First Interstate Bank Center, which is the large indoor arena at the Fairgrounds.

Redmond High School, 7:00 p.m., June 11

Thank you again for your flexibility and patience as we have worked through these plans. We are excited to celebrate the many accomplishments of the Class of 2021 together with our families and friends.

YOU WILL GET YOUR TEN TICKETS WHEN WE DISTRIBUTE CAPS AND GOWNS on June 4th. If your family needs additional tickets, you will need to ask friends who are not using all of their tickets.

Attendance

RHS Attendance Facts

  • The RHS attendance goal is 95%, and our December 2018 attendance was 87%.

We can do better! A student is considered chronically absent if he or she misses just two days every month; that totals 18 missed days in the school year.

  • Did you know that even excused absences count against a student’s attendance record? Use breaks and summer vacation for appointments and vacations to support academic success.
  • Some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances, but we also know that when students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically.
  • Please reach out to your school if you or someone you know could use support in getting to school on time and regularly- we can help. We miss our students when they are not here!
